Abba Award Communities was born out of a deep, personal concern—one that weighs on the hearts of countless families of autistic individuals.
As Parents and sister to an autistic individual, William L. McCord III, Felicia McCord and Kayla McCord have always carried one overwhelming question: What happens when we die, or lose the ability to care for him? What do we do to ensure he is safe and able to live a fulfilling life?
This worry is not just ours. It is a reality faced by thousands of families. Parents, siblings, and loved ones of autistic individuals often struggle with the uncertainty of the future, fearing a world that may not be equipped to provide the lifelong support their family members need. Because the reality is, many autistic individuals end up institutionalized or homeless if they do not have someone to care for them. 12% of the homeless population, about 77,148 people in our country are autistic.
That’s why we created Abba Award Communities—to build a future where families can find peace of mind, knowing their loved ones have a secure and nurturing place to call home in the communities we want to develop.
We are going to develop compassionate, inclusive communities—starting in Southern California and expanding nationwide—that provide lifelong housing, care, and meaningful opportunities for autistic individuals and their families. At Abba Award Communities, we’re not just building homes, we’re creating spaces where families can remain together and individuals can truly thrive.
Our communities will offer a range of housing options designed to meet different needs. This includes private homes for families to live together, multi-person homes for those without family support but who cannot live alone, and supervised living facilities for individuals with complex medical or care needs. These options ensure that no matter the situation, autistic individuals have a safe and permanent place to call home.
Each community will provide 24/7 care, including on-site nurses and trained caregivers, offering personalized support for residents with daily living and medical needs. Families who choose to live together within our communities will still have access to these support services—helping relieve caregiving duties while allowing loved ones to stay connected and involved.
In addition, every community will feature thoughtfully designed centers where residents can explore their interests in science, technology, gardening, farming, music, writing, art, and more. These programs foster independence, creativity, and purpose—allowing residents to pursue passions and personal growth in an uplifting, structured environment.
At Abba Award Communities, we believe that keeping families together as long as possible, while ensuring lifelong care for those who need it, is the most powerful way to support the autistic community. We're building futures grounded in stability, love, and possibility. With a vision of becoming the golden seal of approval for autistic communities worldwide.
Autism affects every family differently, but one thing remains the same—the need for security, support, and a plan for the future. At Abba Award Communities, we are dedicated to providing lifelong care and peace of mind for autistic individuals and their families.

"Living with my older autistic brother Zach is all I've ever known. Growing up, my mom wasn't able to work full time even with our grandmother's help. Ensuring he was comfortable became second nature to me and my family. But the rest of the world was a different matter. Our family often faced judgement and misunderstandings, even by professionals who didn't understand the many ways Autism presents. This made it very difficult to build the social skills and life skills he needed. Having a place like Abba Award Communities wants to develop that could not only meet my brother's needs, but also offer a supportive, understanding community would be life-changing. It's peace of mind knowing that no matter what happens with our family, Zach would be cared for and given the opportunity to thrive."
